Dear Orchestra Parents,
Thank you for your support of our recent Spring Concert. We
just have a couple more events and items that need your attention before we
close another successful year!
Banquet
The Orchestra Awards Banquet and Dinner will take place in
the GVHS Cafeteria on Thursday, May 28 at 6:00 p.m. All orchestra students,
parents, and friends are invited to the banquet. The cost of the event will be $10.00
for students, $12.00 for guests, and graduating seniors attend for free.
Tickets are available to purchase in the orchestra room.
Jewelry Show
Fund Raiser
We had a huge response of parents and students to work at
the jewelry show fund raiser. There are still a few slots available on Friday
morning, May 29 and Monday morning, June 1. Contact Ms. K by email at dkoutsu@interact.ccsd.net if you are interested in working one of these slots. It is
really important that we do not have no shows for this event so if you signed
up to work please make sure to be at the Mandalay Bay by your assigned time. If
for some reason you have a conflict with the time/date that you are working
please notify Ms. K as soon as possible.
Graduation
Graduation for Green Valley High
School will be held on Thursday, June 4 at UNLV Thomas and Mack Center. The
graduation ceremony starts at 6:00 p.m. and the orchestra, band, and choir will
all be performing during the ceremony. Graduating seniors have the option to
process in and then join the orchestra and band in playing the rest of the
processional and America the Beautiful. All 9th, 10th and
11th grade Symphony Orchestra students are expected to perform. We
will do one final rehearsal on the afternoon of graduation at 4:00 p.m. in the
GVHS Band Room. After the rehearsal we will travel to Thomas and Mack by school
bus. There will also be a bus coming
back to Green Valley after the graduation ceremony. Your student should be back
to school by 8:45 p.m. If for some reason your child will not be able to
perform at graduation, please notify me as soon as possible.
Equipment
At this point all school equipment and music should have
been turned in. If your child has an instrument, music, or other equipment that
belongs to GVHS please have them return it as soon as possible. Instruments
will be available to check out for summer loan the last week of school.
As always, thank you for your continued support of our
orchestra program. We certainly could not do it without you! I look forward to
seeing you at one of our banquet.
